Joe Moody

Mr. Moody joined Boart Longyear as Vice President - Global Engineering, in April, 2007. In April, 2009 he was appointed Chief Information Officer, in addition to his duties as VP - Global Engineering. His prior experience includes several senior leadership positions with global responsibility at multinational corporations including Chief Technology Officer and Vice President, Global Engineering for Teleflex Automotive, and global engineering and business leadership roles at Motorola Automotive. During his tenure as Business Director of Motorola’s Asian Automotive business he was an expatriate in Shanghai, China. Prior to Motorola, he held various Engineering and Engineering leadership positions at General Motors, including Product Manager of V6 Powertrain-China. Mr. Moody holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from GMI Engineering & Management Institute (now Kettering University), and an MBA from the University of Michigan.

Noel Kreicker

Noel A. Kreicker is President and Founder of IOR Global Services, Northbrook, IL. IOR is an intercultural training and consulting firm which focuses on developing the global workforce through a variety of customized services . Ms. Kreicker supports IOR’s Strategic Management Team, provides intercultural expertise to external organizations, generates new business opportunities, and engages in projects which expand the company’s global visibility.

Ms. Kreicker served as Peace Corps Volunteer in the Philippines, lived as an expatriate in Bogotá, Colombia. She is a writer and editor for HRCI, Human Resources Certification Institute for SRH’s GPHR, Global Professional in Human Resources exam, is an Advisor to the Board of SIETAR USA, serves on the Midwest Advisory Board for IIE, Institute for International Education, and recently completed a three-year term on the SHRM Global Panel. Ms, Kreicker has previously served on various international committees for ERC, Employee Relocation Council. Ms. Kreicker is an honors graduate in Fine Arts form the University of Washington in Seattle.

Chris Johnson

Chris Johnson

Chris Johnson directs the Scientific Computing and Imaging (SCI) Institute at the University of Utah where he is a Distinguished Professor of Computer Science and holds faculty appointments in the Departments of Physics and Bioengineering. His research interests are in the areas of scientific computing and scientific visualization. Dr. Johnson founded the SCI research group in 1992, which has since grown to become the SCI Institute employing over 160 faculty, staff and students.

Professor Johnson serves on several international journal editorial boards, as well as on advisory boards to several national research centers. Professor Johnson has received several awards, including the NSF Presidential Faculty Fellow (PFF) award from President Clinton in 1995 and the Governor's Medal for Science and Technology from Governor Michael Leavitt in 1999. He is a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

 

Christopher S.P. Tong

Christopher Tong

Christopher S.P. Tong is a Professor of Economics at Westminster College, Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1991, Professor Tong earned his doctorate degree in economics from the University of Utah, and he started to teach full-time at the Hong Kong Baptist University immediately after graduation. After teaching 10 years in Hong Kong, Professor Tong returned to the United States in 2001 and began to teach at Westminster College.

In 2007, Westminster College established the Center for China-America Business Studies (CCABS) and appointed Professor Tong as the Director of the Center.  In the 3 years since the establishment of the center, Professor Tong had successfully set up two different student exchange programs for the college with two prestigious universities in the People Republic of China.  The total number of students who have participated in these exchange programs has gone beyond 30 as of today.  In January of 2010, Westminster College launched its first MBA program in Shanghai and Professor Tong is also serving as the coordinator of the program.  Ever since rejoining Westminster College in 2001, Professor Tong had led 10 students' short-term study trips to China.  Other activities organized by CCABS include China business forums, special guest lectures on China, and concert that features chorus from China.

Professor Tong had also published journal articles and book chapters on different aspects of the Chinese economy, such as the productivity of the Chinese Township and Village Enterprises (TVEs), production efficiency and income disparity across regions, education and economic growth, and inflation and investment environment.

 

Matias Vernengo
Associate Professor, University of Utah

Latin America – International Business Practices Panel

Matias Vernengo was born in Argentina, and educated at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil, and at the New School for Social Research, in New York, where he obtained the Ph.D. in economics. Currently, he is associate professor of economics at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, where he teaches history of economic thought and macroeconomics. He has also taught at Kalamazoo College, and the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro; he has been Visiting Lecturer at the Université de Bourgogne, Dijon, and acted as external consultant for the International Labor Office (ILO), United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). Dr. Vernengo edited four books and published more than fifty academic and popular articles.

 

Yara Anabtawi

Yara Anabtawi

Yara Anabtawi is managing partner and chief operating officer at BMG Financial Group. Yara's responsibilities include directing, planning, and implementing policies and objectives of BMG and overseeing overall operations. She also liaises with regulators on key issues affecting the firm. Yara also led the efforts to attain BMG's investment banking license. Additionally, she networks within communities to find and attract new business.

Prior to Yara’s work in investment banking, she spent 6 years in Education where she developed an IT curriculum, taught the subject and built the department at The British International School of Jeddah. Yara also was a systems engineer at Electronic Data Systems where she led various IT and business projects at General Motors Powertrain and General Motors Pension Administration. Yara holds a B.Sc in Management and Information Systems from Brigham Young University, a Masters degree in Management and Information Systems from the Florida Institute of Technology and a Post Graduate Degree in Education from the University of Sunderland, UK. Yara recently attained a certificate in International Management from Thunderbird University. Yara also has various experiences on leadership, project management, statistics, decision systems and other business/technical skills.

Yara speaks English and Arabic fluently and has some basic knowledge of French. She participates in charity work and supports initiatives in cultural understanding and awareness. In her capacity, Yara advocates the inclusion of qualified women in the workforce and has led efforts in empowering them to do so.

 

Tori Horton
Adjunct Professor, Weber State University

Social Networking and International Exchange in the Virtual World

Tori HortonTori Horton is an adjunct professor at Weber State University. She earned a Master's Degree in Public Diplomacy from the University of Southern California. Tori has worked in the field of public diplomacy for the past five years. Her areas of interest include new technology, nation branding, and cultural exchange.

Most recently Tori worked as Project Manager for a grant from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation at the University of Southern California exploring virtual worlds and online communication. Tori focused on using these worlds as a natural platform for collaboration through global communication and cross-cultural interaction. She has been involved in virtual world exploration since 2005.

Past experience includes working at the USC Center on Public Diplomacy first as an Assistant to the Director and then as Assistant Director of Budget and Administration. In 2005, she directed a German student exchange program in the Pasadena area to facilitate cultural dialogue between German students and American host families.

Prior to her time at USC, Tori earned her undergraduate degree in Humanities and English from Brigham Young University. While attending BYU, she served as a PRSSA public relations officer and lived abroad on a student education program in Vienna, Austria. Her time abroad involved studying German and teaching English to Iranian families. Tori's public relations experience covers both the profit and non-profit sectors.

Ms. Bonnie Monroe is the vice president of human resources for the Association for International Practical Training. Ms. Bonnie has been with the organization since March of 2001. She has over 18 years of human resources experience relating to full cycle recruitment, benefits, training, employee relations, strategic planning, change management, policy and procedure development, and compensation. Her experience over the years has been in a variety of settings, such as health care, hi-tech, telecommunications, and non-profit.

Most of her emphasis has been on organizational development, change management, coaching, and talent acquisition and retention. Her most substantial accomplishments include benefit negotiations, strategic planning and talent acquisition.

Ms. Monroe holds a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies and has been a guest speaker for topics that include stress management, interviewing for success, managing customers, and customer service. She, along with AIPT, has been featured in The Non Profit Times, Smart CEO, and CEO Update on human resources related topics. Ms. Monroe is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), Howard County Society for Human Resources Professionals, Chesapeake Human Resources Association and has recently received her SPHR certification in January 2009. Bonnie has two children.

 

Elizabeth Goryunova

New Decade New Graduates: Global Edition

Elizabeth Goryunova serves as the Director of International Relations for the Salt Lake Chamber and as an Executive Vice President & COO for the World Trade Center Utah. At the Chamber she is responsible for international business development and members' international services, international hosting and events, Chamber Annual International Festival and Chamber International Committee. She also is facilitating activity of the Boards and Commissions Committee and serves as a staff support for the Chamber Public Policy Boards.

Her professional experience prior to the Chamber includes serving as a Director of International Relations for the IMP, Russian Academy of Sciences, teaching Physics for Scientists and Engineers, Astronomy and other Physical Science courses at the university, as well as scientific research (solid state physics). During her tenure at the RAS, Elizabeth graduated from Business Management School with emphasis on International Marketing, and acquired accounting certification. She holds an MBA and Certificate in Finance from Westminster College. Elizabeth is a vice chair for the Utah State Radiation Control Board, and serves on the University of Utah International Center Advisory Board and World Trade Association Board.
